A map for the curious
Tornadoes Map makes public tornado history easier to explore. Choose a year, inspect a path, and put a single event in the context of decades of reported storms.
It is a companion to Hurricanes Mapped, with the same focus on an approachable map and transparent source data.
Public records, clearly explained
The archive comes from NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center. We preserve unknown measurements, distinguish old F ratings from modern EF ratings, and explain where the data stops. Read the sources and methodology for the complete processing choices.
Who prepares the content?
Tornadoes Map is responsible for this site's guides, summaries, and presentation. The project credits NOAA as its data source, not as the author or reviewer of these pages. We do not claim independent meteorological survey expertise.
Guides identify their sources beside relevant explanations. A content-review date records a substantive editorial review; the archive's coverage and download date are listed separately on the methodology page. Archive charts and counts are recalculated from the bundled data when the site is built.
