What these summaries count

Each retained record represents a whole tornado track. State pages select the state where the tornado began. A tornado that entered from a neighboring state is outside that selection; a tornado that began here and crossed a border is included once.

Year pages follow the source's calendar dates. This release ends on 2025-12-28; it contains no live reports. Counts can differ from preliminary reports or archives that count state segments.
